Celebrate Cupcakes

Some fun things happening this weekend – I’ll have much more to share next week, but for now I actually made it into the craft room for a card!  It always helps to NEED a card, such as for one of my friend’s birthdays!  It’s even better when the type of card fits some of my favorite challenges Smile

Celebrate Cupcake (1)

I knew I wanted to start with a cupcake, but as I didn’t have a die-cut, I did what I always do – improvise!  I cut two separate pieces, inking them in Soft Pink and Soft Yellow Shadow Inks by Hero Arts.  To ground the cupcake, I added a strip of plaid paper from a 6x6 of Basic Grey Lauderdale, then inked the card’s sides with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  The bottom part of the cupcake has a Hero Arts happy birthday sentiment stamped in Soft Blossom Shadow Ink, and popped up over the plaid strip.

I really liked the concept of using a sentiment repeatedly in the piece, so I took the little cupcake from another HA set and stamped it across using Soft Stone Shadow Ink.  I popped that up on two layers of foam tape, and added 4 different colors of Liquid Pearls.  I cut out a heart and slathered {great word, no?} it with Ruby Red Liquid Pearls for my cherry.  A piece of lime twine for a stem and an HA sentiment banner finish it off!

Stop, it’s just too cute!

I think cupcakes are definitely something to celebrate, don’t you?
