New York 4th of July Card

I know it’s a bit early for 4th of July (or maybe this means I’m totally organized and ahead of the curve?) but I wanted to enter in the Fashionable Stamping Challenges #21 – Cities of the World so this is what I came up with.  I was tempted to do London or Paris, but it seems like everyone would do those, as there’s tons of Eiffel Tower stamps and Union Jack flags floating about.  So I wanted to do something different.  Digging through my stash I found this 4th of July set by Stampers Anonymous with Lady Liberty.  I grabbed several Distress Inks and made quick work of this card!

4th of July 001

Distress Inks – Barn Door, Fired Brick, Festive Berries, Stormy Sky, Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, Iced Spruce.  I cut a mask of the lady and inked all the words on the large 4th of July stamp.  The bandana paper is from Basic Grey, Lauderdale 6x6 pad.

Below is the inside top:

You may notice this does not look like ‘my style’.  (Kudos to you if you actually know what ‘my style’ is, and thanks for sticking around to find out!)  I normally have lots of bling and glittery bits and random doo-dads and whatever else I can find on my cards.  But I thought it would be better to keep it simple – as this can now be used to send a thank you to a serviceman/woman overseas.  I know there are rules about what can and cannot be sent to them (no glitter – sob!), so I thought it’d be best to let the image do the talking.

By the way, I managed to score in the top three on a previous Fashionable Stamping Challenge #19 – Nautical, I’d love it if you checked out my card here!

Hope you enjoyed – have any of you sent cards overseas through organizations such as Operation Write Home?  I’ve never done it before, but now I think I’ll start! Smile
