Tim Holtz Tags 2012–May

Hey folks, I’m definitely a last minute louie on this one, but eked out May’s tag just in the nick of time.  Don’t forget to check out Tim’s tag, and check out my April tag too!

Tim Tag - May 2012 002

As per usual, no buying anything new for Timmie’s tags. (Although no rules against lusting after new products!)  This tag started out similar – I actually broke into a sewing pattern I have (yes I have sewing patterns but don’t know how to sew, come on, I’m sure some of you can relate!) and glued on the background.  I don’t have any other shade of Archival Ink, so I used Jenni Bowlin ink in Spice Tin for the pattern stamp, and Cough Syrup for the thread top stamps.  You might notice a size difference in stamps, as his are the original woodblock ones, and mine are the cling rubber Stampers Anonymous.

The edges are frayed the same and also inked in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I didn’t have any measuring tape on hand and nor could I sew it on, so instead I stamped a ruler on to some sticky back canvas and adhered to the tag.  I managed to convince my hubby to saw a wooden spool in half, and instead of twine or jute I chose some aqua thread (and tied the top in aqua too to pull it together).

I don’t have any little flowers like he used, and I also don’t have any UTEE or the Ranger Melting Pot, so I used some little doo-dads I got from an estate sale and shoved them in the spool with a glue gun.  I don’t have any of Tim’s Idea-ology line, so that little hanger I actually made myself with round and flat jewelry pliers.  Honestly that was probably the most frustrating part of the whole thing!!  I looped on some spare jewelry parts, stuck an excess piece of the sticky back canvas with the ruler stamped on it, and then dabbed some Glossy Accents on top instead of an epoxy sticker.  One minor addition that isn’t on Tim’s tags are the vintage buttons that my friend Autumn mailed me for Christmas – they’re a perfect fit if I do say myself!

Are you playing along for May – and do you think I’ll have my act together for June’s tag?  Stand by to find out!
