Today’s cards come by way of A Blog Named Hero – Challenge #8. The theme is choose a Hero Artist and get inspired! My two favorites are Shari Carroll, and Jennifer McGuire. I swear these two are some of the most talented on the planet, and I love everything they create.
Shari Carroll is known for warm creamy colors, use of pearls and buttons to simulate shapes (especially Christmas trees), and her overall elegant style. I decided to work with this concept - I love how it turned out ![]()
You know those papers that you hoard for months? This glitter paper is such – but it works perfectly here!
Jennifer McGuire is known for her great use of color, banners with sentiments, and wood veneer pieces (often covered in black enamel). This card is an example of all three. You guys know I love that Hero Arts/Studio Calico stamp, it is probably one of the most versatile in my collection.
I don’t have all the Distress Markers to color the way Jennifer did in her card. I improvised by water coloring with a drop of Tumbled Glass Distress Re-inker, and Broken China and Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain. A few spritzes of Glimmer Mist help bring out the shine. I also have no wood veneers – another missing hole in my stash – so I again improvised, cutting Grungeboard into hearts and covering with black enamel.
So what do you guys think, did I do them justice or did I succeed in embarrassing myself?
Hope you enjoyed – vote for your fave!
