You guys know I am a total slacker (cheapskate?), I still haven’t finished my Creative Chemistry classes from freakin April and it’s now JULY! I actually had done all the days except 6 and 9, because I didn’t have the product to complete them and there’s just some things you really can’t fake. The good news – Hobby Lobby now carries a couple Distress Marker sets –and for $14.99 (which is $5 cheaper than I’ve seen on a couple online stamping supply carriers). You add in a 40% coupon and you’re gettin a six pack of those bad boys for only $9! I bought one set that had Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, and Tumbled Glass.
Blending with Markers Technique – blending using the craft sheet
Watercoloring with Markers Technique – using a watercolor brush to ‘paint’
Stamping with Markers Technique – coloring directly on a stamp
I wasn’t entirely impressed with the blended markers together, but I think this could be due to my limitation in Distress Marker colors. I think two similar shades would work better (kind of like using Copics). Blending straight from the craft sheet turned out way cooler – this looks like cotton candy!
The blended on craft sheet with water was okay. The one on the right where I started with dry paper, colored, then brushed is hands down my fave.
I didn’t like either of these, kind of messy and the paper was too wet.
Mine didn’t turn out quite as vivid as Tim’s, but still way cool technique. I’ll play some more with this, it’s got lots of potential.
I promise I’ll get the rest of the Classes’ tags posted soon! If you haven’t been following for a while or just want a quick refresh, check out Day 5. All the days have links back to the previous day so you can see them all. or you can look to the right and select the tag of ‘Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry to view all.
