Simple Christmas

I’m camping today in the Smoky Mountains, probably freezing my butt off somewhere so thought I’d share a collection of cards that I’ve dubbed ‘Simple Christmas’.  Enjoy! Smile

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I am loving today’s card – inspiration from a fab Mojo Sketch <3

Clean & Simple Cards 051

I picked up the Pink Paislee London Market papers for a steal, and felt inspired to use them for a Christmas card, even though these papers are about as far from Christmas as I think they could be!  I especially love the handmade banner, it’s my first one I’ve ever tried, I think it turned out good, check out the close-up below In love

Clean & Simple Cards 052

Details on the make (do any of you read this part?  PLEASE  leave me a comment, tell me if you are interested and I’ll keep doing it – if not that’s ok too I just want to write what interests you guys!!)  I started inking the sides with Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  The papers are mostly from Pink Paislee London Market, the darker pink is from SEI Field Notes, and the white piece with graphic print I made using HA Shadow Ink in Soft Pink and a HA print.  The main sentiment is Technique Tuesday inked in a ColorBox chalk ink.  The other sentiment is also TT, embossed in another CB ink.  Some Stickles in Thistle, and Ice Stickles in Strawberry Ice on top of those cute stars.

I haven’t had this much fun with a card in awhile – I hope you enjoy it too!

Peace on Earth

This is my first CAS-ual Friday Challenge, I thought this would be a fun one to start!

Clean & Simple Cards 056

I probably should have done this one water color paper, but oh well!  I started with the Technique Tuesday sentiment, embossing in white.  The snowflakes are My Cute Stamps inked in Memento.  A quick trip to the spray ink booth with my latest Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists addition – Dragonfly.  What a stunning color; the perfect turquoise.  And really, what’s more CAS than a one layer card??

I did my best to get a shot of that amazing shimmer:

Thanks for the visit – I’ve had lots of mojo this week so feel free to check back a couple days and stick around for what’s to come.  If you like what you see, I’d love a follow to share more with you <3

One of a Kind!

Today’s card continues the love of fall, with a lovely tag inspired by the latest ABNH Challenge:

ABNH - Tag-youre-it

Clean & Simple Cards 045

My blank tag started with a HA wood grain stamp in HA Soft Sand Shadow Ink.  I darkened the sides a bit with Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks.  The leaves are also HA, colored with Distress Markers in Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Fired Brick.  A couple splotches of Smooch Ink, a chocolate satin bow, and a HA sentiment to finish it off.

One of a kind indeed!

One Layered Gratitude

I’ve been really inspired by Simplicity by Susan Raihala lately…it’s so hard for me to make CAS/one layer cards and she does it with ease.  I made these as an ode to fall and gratitude – and conveniently I learned about OLW#105 (One Layer Wednesday) to enter these in:

Clean & Simple Cards 048

I accidentally stamped the middle one upside down – but another happy accident.  I colored all of these with Distress Markers, and this is what I love, all the individuality of leaves.  They don’t have nothing on God’s creations of course, but I think these look darn good for being stamps!  A la Susan, I added a lovely sentiment, flanked by two spots of Stickles on either side.

Clean & Simple Cards 050

Still in the mood to create a simple but pretty card, this is one stamp inked twice, with varying shades of Distress Ink (Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs, Ripe Persimmon, and Seedless Preserves).  In this case I kinda like the splotchy effect – but in general I don’t like to use Distress Ink with Inkadinkado stamps.  I don’t think their stamps are of high quality photo-polymer, and it really shows with dye inks that tend to pool on clear stamps.

Thanks for joining me this evening – stay tuned soon for some posts on home décor misadventures (and more card creations of course!).  Pics to follow on Facebook, like my FB page for some sneak peeks!

Shall I Compare Thee To a Summer’s Day?

Quick card tonight inspired by The Play Date Café Challenge #149:

September Cards 015

The large images are from a TPC set, one I actually just recently gave away Smile embossed in two colors of Zing! powder.  The sentiment is in Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.  I don’t have anything closer to the coral in the photo, which is strange because coral is one of my fave colors.  I think the coral by SU would be a good match.

Feeling down on the mojo lately, so I’m taking Kick Start, an online card class featuring Jennifer McGuire & Kristina Werner and Friends.  Join the fun, it’s a blast already – I made 3 cards tonight so quick, and I love all three!!  Now if I could just get some tips on photography – I feel like my cards look decent in person, but I detest photos of them.  Hmm kind of a déjà vu moment – haven’t I recently lamented this?  Any tips I’ll take!! Smile

Happy Birthday–Adventure Wanted!

Happy Saturday y’all!  Today’s card is inspired from the current CASE Study Challenge #108.  I recently picked up the EK Success Circle Cutter (why it’s taken me so long to get one I’m not entirely sure…), but again, a great price at Michael’s with another 40% off coupon.  It is hands down the quickest way to get circles cut up to 6 inches across.  The inspiration card featured a cut out, with the top layer of cardstock popped up to get great dimension – so I thought I’d try it too!

September Cards 007 (2)

Masculine cards can be difficult – but I felt so inspired for this one!  Sometimes it’s easier when thinking of a specific person.  In this case, the recipient of this card loves to travel.  What a fun and easy theme!

September Cards 008 (2)

Here is a close-up of the cut out.  I started with some 6x6 papers from SEI Field Notes, and cut out a section with the circle cutter.  On the layer beneath, I inked a Hampton Arts stamp using Hero Arts Soft Leaf Shadow Ink.  A fantastic little stamp – it lists several cities around the world.

The Happy Birthday part?  My first time cutting one of my clear stamps!!  This is a Hero Arts sentiment, and I needed something clear and bold to go over the lighter font below while fitting in the circle.  I cut the stamp, and the risk paid off Winking smile

September Cards 009     September Cards 010

Now for the fun with alcohol inks – Pitch Black, Lettuce, Mushroom, and Cranberry.  I embossed an aluminum sheet with a TH folder – can you see in the middle of the image on the left it says Paris?  Perfect!  So much fun to get inky, and love the unpredictable result.  I finished it off with some Distress Stickles on the left in Aged Mahogany.

Thanks for popping by, if you’ve never been here before take your time and look around! Smile

Twinkling H20s

Today I’m excited to share one of my most recent favorite cards.  I recently found out that the Hobby Lobby near me carries Twinkling H20s, which are a touch pricey at most stores.  But at HL they came in a pack (read: cheaper) of 12 colors and of course I can’t resist with a 40% off coupon!

Anyway, today’s card is inspired by the unique choice from ColourQ #154, and a lovely sketch from Mojo #258.

September Cards 016

I am loving how this turned out, the colors are mostly accurate except the flower is more burgundy/less purple and definitely super shimmery in person.  I really hope you enjoy, I’m proud of this one!

Do you have any Twinkling H20s?  It’s the most beautiful and relaxing water-coloring around!

Be Merry

Happy Friday everyone!  If the day alone isn’t enough to make you merry, hopefully you’ll follow my not-so-subtle demand on this card, inspired by Fashionable Stamping Challenge #29 – Anything Floral/Handmade Flowers, and Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Put a Stamp on It! :

September Cards 003

Layered papers from Echo Park, Inkdadinkado sentiment, punches for paper petals by McGill.

Some close up glamour shots for your viewing pleasure!

These poinsettias are actually pretty easy to make, just time consuming as you will want them to be nice and fully shaped.  Check out McGill’s website to learn how to create these and many more beautiful florals.

Would you be interested in a tutorial on handmade paper flowers if I made one?  Have a great weekend, y’all!

Distress Stain + Embossing = Super Easy Card!

I know this was a short week, but I’ve already got my eyes set on Friday – how about you??  Today’s card was super fun and even better – super easy!

Inspired by:

ABNH - Emboss

A Blog Named Hero – Challenge #11 Who’s the Boss? (Use any form of embossing on card or project)

Stampin’ Sisters in Christ – Challenge #155 (Birthday theme)

Simon Says Stamp – Put a Stamp on it! Challenge (using stamps, no digis)

September Cards 009

This Hero Arts rubber stamp image is a great one to emboss.  It doesn’t matter if you accidentally didn’t get a clear impression, because that’s how wildflowers are anyway, imperfect but beautiful.  I stamped it on watercolor paper using Versamark and embossed with some white Zing! powder.

Taking Distress Stains in Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, Faded Jean, and Chipped Sapphire I swiped quickly over the embossed image.  I spritzed some iridescent gold Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist over it, and wow do I wish I could capture that incredible shine here!  I finished it off with a birthday sentiment, both it and the main panel popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for coming by to visit me today.  I hope your day is just like some wildflowers – imperfect…but beautiful!

Let It Snow (?)

Actually, I hate snow so I would prefer it didn’t – that’s why I moved South!  Today’s card started with the direction of the latest Color Q Challenge #152, and also entering in Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes.

September Cards 010

This card is a great example of something that looks much better in person – I feel like many of my cards are like that.  I think I need a better camera, a photography editing class wouldn’t hurt either.

Anyway, this card uses 3 different brands of ink to get close to the inspiration.  Ranger Adirondack Brights in Pool, Distress Ink in Peeled Paint and Pumice Stone, and Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Soft Sand.

Some close-ups:

September Cards 001  September Cards 002

I sponged off some of the background color before stamping to give a snowy hazy look, and also to help the snowflakes show better.  I finished the green flakes with Peeled Paint Distress Stickles, and the cream colored flakes with Liquid Pearls in Bisque.

I accidentally rocked my stamp when stamping the ‘brrr!’, but liked how it looked – the letters look like they’re shivering!  So I did the same thing with the ‘Let it snow!’, kind of like snow falling from the sky.

Thanks for joining me today!

You’re Sweet!

I love today’s card, mostly because I love sweets. [hey if I didn’t tell you my waistline sure would!]  And even though we’re creeping into fall, it’s still hot as blazes through much of the US, including my corner of the globe in Knoxville, TN.  And who can think of a better treat to beat the heat than a popsicle??

Inspiration thanks to three challenges:

Color Throwdown #207Moxie Fab Repetition Challenge, and Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes – y’all should play along too!
