How to Double Mask

Today’s card is deceptively simple – it’s got a fun technique that I am calling ‘double-masking’, it’s not new I’m sure but it’s fun and makes your stash go twice as far!

Inspiration thanks to Make Your Own Background Paper Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and colors thanks to ColourQ #217.  The sketch I ended up with is from Studio Calico.

First cut out your shape in a scrap piece of paper – this will be your first mask.  You can see mine on the left, in the shape of a large banner.  Then take your second mask, this one is by Studio Calico, and use washi tape to hold it in place.  Place your project in a spray box, and ink up.  Photo on the right shows the pattern after the second mask has been removed.  Take the scrap paper you used as your first mask off and continue your card.

I am loving how this turned out!  I definitely plan on making some more ‘background paper’ in a similar way.  Hope you can join in the fun too!
