These two challenges came together like peanut butter and jelly. Color Throwdown #251 and Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday Challenge (the challenge is to stamp in watercolor, then brush ink along the sides of the same stamp for a really cool effect). Actually my first time in playing in a PTI challenge!
Here’s my take:
So if you hadn’t read the top part of what the challenge was, you might be thinking, ho hum, she stuck a banner on top of some patterned paper. No no, my friends. That is a hand stamped background! I figured many who entered this challenge would use a floral stamp like the inspiration card, but out of my two floral PTI sets, neither had enough solid image space to make this technique work. So I turned to my trusty Irresistible Ikat set, which in my opinion, could not loan itself better to this new-to-me technique!!
I inked in SU Kiwi Kiss, Distress Ink Salty Ocean, Gathered Twigs, a mix of Broken China and Peacock Feathers, and the sentiment is SU Bermuda Bay – all as close as I could get to the inspo colors.
What would I have done differently? Nothing, except take pictures along the way! I wish I would have a before pic, of when I just did the watercolor stamping. Then side by side to this one, it is a world of difference my friends! I hope you will try for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Labor intensive, sure, but totally worth it!

Okay that’s it from me – til next time!
