Alcohol Ink Tutorial + Video

I can’t believe I haven’t posted since July – I have been super sick and haven’t made anything since then.  I did make a tutorial video and some background cards a couple weeks ago using some Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Inks by Tim Holz.  Although it’s my first video and naturally I hate how my voice sounds, so I delayed in posting this.  The reality is – I don’t want to redo the video, so here you go – please don’t be too hard on me!!!

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (15)

Here are the two backgrounds created from the video.  The one on the left has Aqua, Sail Boat Blue, Stream, and Silver Mixative.  The one the right is the same, but with the addition of the alcohol blending solution.

A close up of the first one, hard to catch the metallic sheen a little bit.

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (14)

Here’s a close up of the one with the blending solution.

I had so much fun that I couldn’t stop, here’s a couple more backgrounds:

Eggplant, Purple Twilight, Wild Plum, and Gold Mixative

A close-up, it reminds me of pansies?

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (5)

Love how this one looks like patina on copper.  I used Bottle, Ginger, and Copper Mixative.

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (6)

If you didn’t know better, do you think this could actually be copper?  Cool huh!

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (9)

This one has aqua, Denim, Pitch Black, and Citrus.

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (10)

A weird color combo but I still like it!

Alcohol Ink Tutorial (4)

I love how this one turned out; it’s Wild Plum, Salmon, and Snow Cap (white) Mixative.

Thanks for joining me, I hope you enjoyed the video tutorial on alcohol inks!

If you like more pictures in a how-to instead of video, here is an older Alcohol Ink tutorial, my first actually!

Pearl Gateway July Cards (5)

This post has some recent cards with Alcohol Ink, comparing the same Alcohol Ink colors but with Ranger Jet Black Archival on one card and Cotton White Staz On on the other.

See you soon!

Wishing you all the best today and always

Haven’t made a card in a couple of weeks, I feel so rusty!!  I noticed the deadline for the Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World “I’m craving navy” was due tonight at midnight so thought I better get crackin.  To give me a mojo boost, I turned to the sketch below from Sketchbook Saturday.

The picture quality itself isn’t the absolute best, but that’s what I get for finishing this at 11pm and photographing, so I hope you will ignore that and focus on the card itself.  Several things I like about this card – I immediately fell in love with the water colored ombre background.  Legit watercolor, I’m talking some Windsor & Newton up in here!  I adhered that to a kraft base, so this makes my first kraft card (um, made from actual kraft cardstock, not a recycled bag.  ahem.).  The florals are a stunning set designed by the lovely Dawn McVey with Papertrey Ink.  A bit of wrasslin’ around to get perfect layered stamping – but once you get it you got it and the results speak for themselves.  The sentiment shows up light here, white embossed to mimic the little white Studio Calico punched anchors.  Some enamel dots finish ‘er off!

Hope you enjoy, thanks for visiting me so late – *yawn* I’m off to bed!
