Tag with a Feminine Twist

Today is Tag Thursday combining inspo from both Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist and Tim Holtz’ 12 Tags of 2013 – December!

This tag started out with the layout and attempt at some of Tim’s techniques, but as you can see, I went the super girly route!  Maybe it’s the snowflake dies that catch your eye or the sentiment shines out to you, but for me it is this super layered background.  I started with streaking this tag with Distress Stains in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, and a smidgen of Tarnished Brass.  Instead of spraying with water, I used Perfect Pearls Mists in Interference Red, which is a super shimmery pink that actually more closely matches the shade of the Picked Raspberry.

I pulled out a Heidi Swapp Moroccan tile stencil, and selectively sponged Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on it.  Tim does this all the time, it was hard to train myself that I don’t have to use the whole stencil!  I also lightly brushed the edges of the tag with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I wanted a softer look – so Picked Fence Distress Stain was the perfect look to layer over everything.

The sentiment is by Avery Elle, embossed in gold Zing! powder.  The snowflake dies are Simon Says Stamp.  The larger one was coated using Antiquities Embossing powder in Frosted Crystal.  I heard of this stuff from Tim’s Creative Chemistry 102 class.  Very subtle and easy to color, which I did with some more Picked Raspberry DI.  The smaller flake was inked with Hero Arts Gold ink.  Both were placed over a half label die cut.  Gold and iridescent pink sequins with a pink glitter ribbon finish the accessorizing.

Doesn’t get more feminine than that, here’s her close-ups!

Thanks for the visit – look around, stay awhile – you can see past tags in the tab on the right sidebar.
