10+ Embellishments

Another supah fun challenge naturally thanks to the Moxie Fab 10 Embellishments Challenge!

Pearl Gateway 012

I never put this many embellishments on one card because I’m a cheap hoarder I didn’t think it would look good.  I love how this turned out!  Papers and brads from MME, and the garden rose made by yours truly!!

Try not being a cheap hoarder and play along, you’ll like it! Winking smile

Ahoy!

This was such a fun challenge, really unique!  This is for the Stamp With a Homemade Stamp Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, and then also entered in Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Use Washi Tape.

Pearl Gateway 021

Some strips of washi, thanks to Tar-jay, My Cute Stamps make the perfect nautical pair.  Here’s a close-up of the ‘stamp’ I used to create the background:

Pearl Gateway 022

Ok, you’re NEVER going to guess what I used to create this!

Come on, try to guess!

Nope, that’s not it

Guess again…

Okay, fine…I’ll tell you!!

dish scrub

It’s a DISH SCRUB!!  I mashed one side of the scrub into some Hero Arts Pool Shadow Ink!

Okay check out that detail again:

Pearl Gateway 022

How FUN is that!?  Perfect texture and pattern for super cheap!  This challenge certainly helped me open my eyes to see what I could use as a homemade stamp.  I hope you can join in the fun too!

Bonus points if you comment with what your guess was, I’d love to know your guesses! Open-mouthed smile

More Fun with Glitter Ritz and Copics

Squeaking another in almost at the deadline, what fun would it be if I did things on time??

This is for ColorQ # 172 – Loved this one, even though I had difficulty with the ‘summer starfruit’.  I don’t have any Stampin’ Up! Inks, so finding a match for such a yellowy green was hard, but I think I did it!

January Cards 006

Copics makes it possible, YAY!  Loved coloring on top of the Glitter Ritz, so relaxing.  Here’s a close up:

January Cards 007

What do you think?  I’m quite happy with it and hope you like it too! Smile

Have You Heard the News?

Today’s card drew inspiration from several challenges across the interwebs, and I’m pretty pleased with the result!  Colors thanks to Color Throwdown #225, Stamp choices to A Blog Named Hero #18, sketch to Studio Calico, and also submitting to Word Art Wednesday as Anything Goes!

    0113LOsketch

January Cards 009

The color palette actually came together easily thanks to some cute MME papers that I punched circles out and had some cute brads that matched.  The wood grain background is an HA stamp, maybe 2009?  So I had fun getting some use out of it along with a newer release for the sentiment and ? marks inked in HA Cup O Joe and Soft Brown for the wood grain.  The sketch itself is thanks to SC, which is actually a scrapbook page layout but I wanted to really challenge myself and use it for a card!  Kind of quirky, but I love it!  I don’t have any arrow stamps – but duh!  I grabbed a ruler and made my own, yay!

As I was making this, I thought how FUN it would be to give someone that you’re announcing you’re pregnant.  I’M not, so don’t get any ideas people, I just thought it would be cute for that!! Surprised smile

MOVING ALONG

NOTHING TO SEE HERE

Thanks for joining me today, have a happy Monday! Winking smile

Some fun water coloring and distressing the sides using Scattered Straw, Victorian Velvet, and Dusty Concord Distress Inks (all colors I hadn’t had out in awhile, so yay!)

Have a nice night, friends!

Mini Cards <3

A super fun day thanks to the recent Make an Itty Bitty Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!

Pearl Gateway 013

What is more cute than My Cute Stamps??  Nothing!  This card is 3x3 and too cute for words.

Pearl Gateway 014

3x3…hmm let’s go a bit smaller.  This is 2.5x2.5 featuring a Boston Terrier (Simon actually from the SSS logo).  I colored this one and gave him a bow tie to look like my Boston, Chase <3

Pearl Gateway 015

Here’s the two together, for size comparison.

Pearl Gateway 023

I was having SO much fun with these – and you can believe I’ll be making many more thanks to this challenge – that I decided to try mini circle cards.  SO easy because they came from punches, I think maybe a 2.5x2.5 and a 2x2.  To make a circle card, take the back circle and score it about 1/4 the way down.  Then put adhesive on the smaller side of the score, and adhere your top panel – voila, super easy and fun circle card!

Does the circle on the right look familiar?  I used it in yesterday’s challenge card!  I’m so happy it wasn’t wasted.

Thanks for checking out my mini cards, hope you can join in this challenge too!

Round of Applause

Having some CAS fun today, join me!

CFC85: Round of Applause- CAS cards that celebrates an accomplishment, and feature at least one circle.

Pearl Gateway 011

I had envisioned a sunset when making this card, and using the circle as a sun to show off the ‘applause’.  From top to bottom here are the Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade x2, Salty Ocean x2, Broken China x2, and Tumbled Glass again.  The Hero Arts sentiments are stamped on an orange circle on the inside in HA Orange Soda.  The chevron came from a Technique Tuesday set.

Thanks for joining me today, check back tomorrow if you’re curious to see what happened to the circle! Smile

CASE Study # 123

This was such a FUN challenge for me!  You know when you want to be inspired by something but the original is so perfect as is?  I got that feeling with today’s CASE Study card by Amber Kemp-Gerstel.

Here’s my study:

Pearl Gateway 019

I created a panel out of Sookwang sticky paper and burnished Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight into it.

I did a tutorial post in December on using this paper and glitter, check it out here.

Using Ranger Black Archival Ink, the hearts were stamped in a random falling pattern.  I used three shades of Copic markers to gently color the hearts in.  The sentiment is Hero Arts, inked in HA Bubble Gum.

Pearl Gateway 020

Trying to capture the stunning shine!

Have you tried these products yet?  Super fun!  Hope you can play along in the challenge Smile

How to Double Mask

Today’s card is deceptively simple – it’s got a fun technique that I am calling ‘double-masking’, it’s not new I’m sure but it’s fun and makes your stash go twice as far!

Inspiration thanks to Make Your Own Background Paper Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and colors thanks to ColourQ #217.  The sketch I ended up with is from Studio Calico.

75 Creative Card Challenges

Pearl Gateway 006     Pearl Gateway 007

First cut out your shape in a scrap piece of paper – this will be your first mask.  You can see mine on the left, in the shape of a large banner.  Then take your second mask, this one is by Studio Calico, and use washi tape to hold it in place.  Place your project in a spray box, and ink up.  Photo on the right shows the pattern after the second mask has been removed.  Take the scrap paper you used as your first mask off and continue your card.

Pearl Gateway 009

I am loving how this turned out!  I definitely plan on making some more ‘background paper’ in a similar way.  Hope you can join in the fun too!

Mojo275Sketch

Again I want to thank everyone SO very much for following this blog and sharing crafty fun with me.  When you share/like/retweet my posts and photos it brings such great joy!  Here are the two winners from the giveaway:

From Random.org, it picked #3 - Tamytha and #5 – lovelymrsp

If no response is heard from the winners by the midnight EST on Monday, January 14, new winners will be drawn.

When I get to 200 on the blog/150 on FB, I plan to do another one, so SHARE my blog/page with your friends!  I have a nice little giveaway stash lined up and I can’t wait to SHARE it with YOU!

And a bonus card for today:

Pearl Gateway - January Cards (5)

This is a Studio Calico sketch and hubby thought it kind of different (code for weird I think).  Technically the ‘me’ and ‘you’ bits should be on the left and right side of the large ‘&’ but I didn’t like it hiding those fun faux stiches.

What do you think?  Way cool or yecch?

You Make My Heart Happy

Today’s card is inspired purely by the latest muse over at CASE Study (Challenge #122).  Here is the muse card photo – pure loveliness!

IMG_4655_zps913776b4

And here is my study on it, hope you like it!

Pearl Gateway - January Cards (3)

I started off with her vision of purple, how pretty and perfectly romantic for a Valentine.  My eye also caught her background paper with the hounds tooth, and I knew just the ticket here – this stuff I used is crazy shiny in person.  I placed prima flowers in the lower corner of my card, and brushed some with Copics for dimension and added Liquid Pearls in their centers.  I also liked how the original card uses those pearly stick ons, but I don’t have any so I made faux ones with dots of Liquid Pearls – never did that before!

Pearl Gateway - January Cards (4)

Here’s a close up of the little garden I’ve got going on!

What do you think, too busy for your taste or lush and dreamy?

Something New

I am loving this card today, hope you do too!  Inspired by the latest Mojo Monday #274, Simon Says Stamp – New Something, and A Blog Named Hero#17 – A New Year New You.

ABNH17NewYearMojo274SketchSimonSaysStamp

Pearl Gateway - January Cards (2)

The whole thing is almost all new product.  Papers and embellishments from My Minds Eye and Studio Calico.  I also tried a hand-written sentiment which I’ve never done before and needed to do because I have hardly any Valentine themed stamps.  I don’t often use ribbon, but let’s just say I was feeling the Mojo!  And that wooden piece is a SC snowflake, but this particular one looks more like a flower here Smile

Pearl Gateway - January Cards (1)

A close-up of the layered embellies.  Have a wonderful day, friends!  If this is your first time here, take some time and look around Smile
