I have been meaning to participate in one of Papertrey Ink’s blog hops for a long time. I always love their inspiration, themes, and color choices. September’s is WREATHS!
I was wondering what in the world I should do because a) I don’t have any wreath images, let alone PTI ones, and b) you may have noticed a theme on this blog lately – getting it together when it comes to Christmas cards!
Here’s my take on this challenge, and I think this just might be my favorite card lately:
Many of you will recognize the individual pieces as the flowers in Maile Belle’s Mini Blooms set, and I will admit to you now that I had no idea how versatile this set could be with a quick color change. I used Distress Inks in Festive Berries, Pine Needles, Crushed Olive, Bundled Sage, Weathered Wood, and Iced Spruce. Usually I am a cheapskate and never put this much bling on a card, but I felt it deserved it!
Clean, simple, colorful – what’s not to love? Oh and here’s how I did the wreath shape so it wouldn’t be all wonky. Take any circular object and set it down on the card. You don’t even need to fully trace it out, just put little pencil dots every so often so you have a faint guide. This way you are only free-handing (or free-stamping rather) just a little bit and your wreath doesn’t turn into an oval or worse, some sort of trapezoid.
Hope you enjoy, thanks for stopping by!
