You are so special

Didn’t make any Halloween cards this year but a couple of fall ones.  Celebrating Halloween and the end of October with this Autumn leaf card (I used it for boss’ day earlier in the month):

Watercolor paper panel sprayed with several different inks – HS Color Shine and SC Mister Huey’s.  Black panel inked with Versamark then dusted with a couple different shades of Perfect Pearls.  Die cut ‘you’, white embossed sentiment, sequins, twine, and partial dash lines to finish.  Close-up:

Thank Yew

A client of mine gave me some yew bushes last week.  Here’s a quick thank you card to share my joy with you!

IMG_5564

These don’t look like yew bushes but the closest stamp I had (from Stampendous).  Inked in Archival, then watercolored using Distress Stain in Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint.  Berried colored in Smooch Ink and glazed over with Glossy Accents.  Sentiment from a PTI set inked in HA Shadow Ink in Pool.

Close up of the berries, they are so shiny and pretty!

5!

Quick share today, this was a custom card request for a colleague whose granddaughter is turning 5 soon.

IMG_5616

Tons of fun for a little girl, no?  Dylusions spray inks are the brightest around so I put on a nice layer of those before piling on coordinating buttons to make the 5.  I filled in the small gaps with Liquid Pearls and Stickles.

Have a bright day!

Hero Arts Holiday Challenge

I’ve got 3 cards for today, participating in Hero Arts Holiday Challenge!

holidaycontest-500

  • Deck the Cards — ‘Tis the season for decking the halls…and of course the cards, too! Use at least one Hero Arts embellishment to deck-out your holiday card. A few options include metallic decor, gems, pearls, and felt embellishments.
  • Merry and Bright – Brighten up your holidays with NEON! Use any Hero Arts neon ink or neon dauber on your project.
  • A Few of My Favorite Things – Create any Christmas/Holiday/Winter card with a favorite stamping technique plus a Hero Arts holiday stamp.

Here’s my takes:

IMG_5581

I’ve had these little trees for a long time now and they always get pulled for Christmas card making.  I had some SU embossing powder called Rainbow Razzle that I hadn’t used yet so I thought it would be a great combo.  The background is Distress Stains in Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, and Weathered Wood.  Pearls make the perfect falling ‘snow’!  The sentiment is also Hero Arts as well.  A close-up:

IMG_5583

IMG_5575

I started with these Hero Arts conversation bubbles, and filled Hero Arts sentiments in using Hero Arts neon inks – this card is almost totally Hero!  The front sentiment is Technique Tuesday (I need something that said the word ‘bright’ in it) and it has been colored in with Stardust Gelly Roll pen.  I love how all the sentiments fit in the bubbles!  Here’s a close-up:

IMG_5586

This is one of those cards I knew where I was going and happy with the result – love that!  I started with this pretty musical background combined with Christmas definitions.  I embossed using a holographic powder by Stampendous, then dotted Distress Stains in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, and Seedless Preserves.  Glitter paper banners, glitter foam letters, and some enamel dots complete the look – here’s the close up:

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards, thank you so much for the visit – please comment with your favorite!! Smile

Trigger Tuesday–Enthralled with Fall

Having such fun with the latest Trigger Tuesday, our eye is on this photo:

And really, who can resist a crunch pile of deliciously colored leaves?  I couldn’t, so here’s my take:

IMG_5589

So much fun to be had with some alcohol inks!  I started with a piece of glossy cardstock and stamped those Hero Arts leaves (I used Archival as that is what I typically use over alcohol ink but I think maybe Staz On may have been a better choice.  Archival is good once you’ve already used the alcohol ink and are stamping on TOP of that).  Anyway, I blobbed out a bit of a variety of colors on a scrap piece of acetate.  I used that as my palette to pick up the color with the alcohol pen and color the leaves.  Then for the background I dabbed two shades of aqua to give it a Monet sort of look (which took forEVER but love the result).  The little metal tag is from Tim Holtz’ ideology line, and I dabbed Distress Paint in Seedless Preserves then wiped off the excess.

Here’s a close-up (the shine is copper mixative):

Hope you join in this Moxie Fab challenge too!

CASology–Country

Happy Sunday friends – haven’t been able to make any cards lately as my parents were in town visiting us but now that they’ve gone back home I occupied myself with making a new batch of cards!  Today I’ve got two to share with you so come back a little later to see the other one.  The first is with CASology – Country is the theme.

Here’s my take:

IMG_5569

I masked a section of my one layer card using washi tape, and then inked with a Tsukineko sponge dauber using Distress Ink in Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean.  I stamped the Technique Tuesday sentiment in Archival Jet Black ink, as well as the little star at the upper left corner.  On the star I added some Stardust Gelly Roll pen.

I have to say this is probably one of the best one layer cards I’ve ever made.  CAS generally is hard for me, I think because there is not a lot of room for error and the design must be well thought out.  How about you, are you more of a CAS person, or ‘more-is-more’?

Studio Calico World Cardmaking Day 2013 Extravaganza!!

I simply won’t have the time to post each of these cards individually for Studio Calico’s World Card Making Day series of challenges.  There are five challenges, so today will be a feast of five cards!!!

#1 Mood Board

IMG_5140

I started with a panel of watercolor paper and misted heavily towards the center.  I just picked up this ampersand stencil by Studio Calico, and thought it’d be fun to paste around it like a burst going outwards.  I used Ferro Special Effect Paste.  ‘Merry’ and ‘Bright’ are part of a sentiment from Technique Tuesday.  Close-up:

IMG_5146

#2 Ombre Trend

IMG_5141

Another watercolor panel, this time misted with several Studio Calico Mister Hueys: Navy and Powder Blue for the ombre background, then Garden and Tannenbaum for opposite ombre effect.  The tree itself is hand-drawn and cut, with hand-drawn stich marks.  Kelly Purkey gold sequins on the tree.  I put Opaque White over the blue for snow.  The snow at the bottom is Stampendous Frantage Shabby White Embossing Enamel.  Close-up:

#3 Use Your Scraps

IMG_5142

Paper gathered from two Studio Calico collections – the green snowflakes are from Wonderland, and the brown strips are from Atlantic.  I masked the main panel and inked with Distress in Salty Ocean and Stormy Sky.  The wood veneer pieces are also studio Calico – little triangles inked green, a little yellow star, and a bigger star to represent the Star of David inked white.  The blue background was misted with Mister Hueys Shine.  Close-up:

#4 Take 5!

IMG_5137

I started with several die cut frames, and some sprayed in Mister Hueys Navy, Pretty Pink, and Garden.  The wood veneer pieces are little diamond shapes also from Studio Calico that have all been painted with Stardust glitter ink pen, and the one to the top left was covered in Glitter Ritz in Warm Highlight.  Close-up:

#5 Sketches

IMG_5139

Another watercolor panel – I was having such fun I couldn’t stop.  This time instead of spraying the Mister Huey's on, I poured out some Manila, Clay, and Warm Calico on an acrylic block and painted it on.  I love the almost woodgrain streak effect.  Each little panel had been inked in a darker color of Distress Ink, including Tea Dye, Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain.  Love those mini cookie cutters.  Close-up:

Thank you so much for joining me, please let me know which one is your favorite???

Color Media Challenge

Good news and bad news, which do you want first?  I always take the bad news and get it out of the way – so it is the last day for the Moxie Fab World’s Handmade Cards Challenge, today is the Color Media Challenge.

The good news is – it’s Friday, hooray!

IMG_5067

This just might be my favorite of the week.  But they’re all my babies so how can I decide!?  People say they don’t have a favorite child, but I think they are lying.  Anyway!

The light bulb embellishments on black and white twine speak for themselves, and the sentiment is perfect to color and echo the rainbow effect.  For those interested, I used Copic markers in this order from left to right:  R46, R14, YR14, Y35, YG17, G17, BG07, B04, B24, B79, V09.

Thank you all SO much for visiting me this week, I hope you got to see all 5 cards.

Have a great weekend, friends!

Wood Metal Cork Challenge

Day 4 of Moxie Fab World’s Handmade Cards Challenges – today is Wood/Metal/Cork!

IMG_5087

I started with a panel of water color paper, and inked with with two metallic Distress Stains: Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter.  I put the little jingle bells in the paper and popped it up on some foam tape – there’s my metal!  More ‘metal’ in the form of embossing powder on the sentiment in metallic gold and pewter from Zing!.

IMG_5101

Here’s a shot in direct sunlight so you can see the sentiment and background details better.  I think this would be a great card for a guy or someone who is low key but would still appreciate a thought out card.

What do you guys think, yay or nay?

General Craft Supplies Challenge

Day 3 of Moxie Fab World’s Handmade Cards Challenge, today is General Craft Supplies Challenge.

Here’s my take:

IMG_5078

I wasn’t sure if the rules actually required the general craft supplies to be ON the card, but I definitely USED them!  I put some temporary adhesive on some of these Kaiser Craft wood veneers:

Ok well they’re not the exact same ones, but you get the idea.  Then I sprayed several different brands of mist on them: Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Chartreuse, Studio Calico Mister Huey’s in Garden and Tannenbaum.  I LOVE how it looks very Monet, very impressionist feeling with how the mists beaded up on each other – I usually don’t get that look.  I peeled off my ‘mask’ and added some enamel dots for the berries.

I love how this is kind of an artsy card – definitely not perfect clean lines, and I’m happy with how it turned out.  I didn’t put a sentiment on it because sometimes it’s just not needed.

I’d wish you all a happy hump day but I get stabby when someone says ‘Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike’.  If you are the person that does this EVERY FREAKIN WEDNESDAY PLEASE KNOCK IT OFF

xoxo

Sticker and Tape Challenge

Welcome back to Moxie Fab World’s Handmade Cards Week – today is the Sticker and Tape Challenge!

IMG_5072

This was SO fun to do, I have no idea where I got the idea but thought, why not make a card of all stickers?  I grabbed some Thickers and got to work with some Christmassy themed words.  My eye goes straight to the ‘w’ in twinkle, how about you?  Check out the photo below for the gleaming glitter:

This stuff is super shiny and I love it!  More tomorrow friends!

Ready Made Embellishments Challenge

Yay you came back for the Moxie Fab World’s Handmade Cards Challenge(s)!  Starting today off with The Ready Made Embellishments Challenge!

IMG_5085

Okay before you say what is that hot mess!?  Think of those family Christmas cards where the cute little baby/kids/pets/someone’s cousin twice removed is all wrapped up in lights.  Fun, right!?  I thought so!

Before I adhered the lights down, I made a mask and sprayed some Ranger Perfect Pearls in Sunflower Sparkle on some black cardstock.  The lights stayed put thanks to some Glossy Accents.  A gold embossed sentiment and a burst of sequins make this an eccentric awesome card!  Here’s the close-up, in direct sunlight to show you the sha-ZAM!

IMG_5102

What d’ya think, super fun or too out there?  If you love it, come back tomorrow for more!  If you hate it, well you are a scrooge.  But come back tomorrow anyway!

All That Glitters is Gold

Having an absolute BLAST lately, I actually have done all the open Moxie Fab World’s challenges over the weekend, and I am just having so much fun.  I’ll show you the All That Glitters is Gold challenge, then come back next week for all 5 Handmade Card Week challenges.

IMG_5092

How funny that I just made this and saw in the latest Papercrafts mag that bokeh is all the rage!  I added some new Distress Stains to my collection and thought they looked so pretty together: Seedless Preserves, Weathered Wood, Picked Raspberry, Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick, Tarnished Brass and Picket Fence.

I framed it with this Spellbinders die, love that glitter cardstock!  I had won those sequin disc things(?) from a drawing from Cath’s goodie bag a while back and so glad I saved them til now!  As far as the * in the sentiment?

IMG_5094

What else would go on the inside!? (Feeling inspired from the Online Card Classes – Insider)

Here’s another photo, this one taken in direct sunlight to catch the GLAM!  Also the bokeh colors are more accurate in this pic:

IMG_5096

Well I couldn’t stop, I was having so much fun daubing, so instead of stains, I tried my hand at the new Distress Paints I picked up (Barn Door, Peeled Paint, Antique Linen):

IMG_5089

And a shot in direct sunlight:

IMG_5098

THANK YOU for joining me today – hope you have a happy Friday and an even better weekend – don’t forget to come back on Monday for the Handmade Card Challenge Cards!  If you don’t love them I’ll eat my hat!
